The fresco painting technique is one of the oldest forms of mural covering in the Alentejo, present in numerous chapels and hermitages. This heritage, often at risk of disappearing, will be the focus of the Heritage Camp , a camp dedicated to the preservation of this declining technique and the conservation of the frescoes of the Chapel of São Brás, in Portel, Alentejo.
The Heritage Camp will bring together participants of various nationalities, who will be guided by conservators-restorers with over 20 years of experience in mural painting. Activities include:
- Waste cleaning
- Consolidation
- Fixation
- Chromatic reintegration of paintings
These experiences will allow participants to acquire practical skills in the conservation and restoration of frescoes, learning the entire process and the use of materials, while actively contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage.
In addition to restoration activities, the program includes cultural tours around Alentejo and contact with the community, providing an immersion in the historical and cultural richness of the region.
- The cost of participation is 150 euros and includes accommodation, food and all materials necessary for the restoration work.
