About the Craftswoman
Annette Brinckerhoff
Natural Dyer & Founder - Tinctorium StudioBorn and raised between Costa Rica, Portugal and the United States, Annette grew up surrounded by plants and nature. Her obsession with plants and an unexpected introduction to natural dyeing in Thailand in 2018, was the beginning of Annette's journey into the world of natural dyeing. In 2019, she moved back to Portugal, and after a global pandemic forced her to find peace in local plants, she founded Tinctorium Studio in 2020. Today, Annette works with various natural dyeing techniques, always with local plants, and specializes in botanical printing. The pieces created in the studio are made from factory deadstock, second-hand, or from new sustainable sources such as organic cotton. They are dyed with wild plants, prunings from neighbors, or cultivated plants - creating living textiles that encourage curiosity about the plants used. Since not everything natural is sustainable, the studio integrates practices that reduce its environmental impact. Mainly composting plants, maintaining the garden with permaculture principles, capturing rainwater, and reusing water. Doing the most to preserve, respect, and celebrate natural abundance through dyeing.

Spira Lab specializes in cultural and natural tourism programs to explore Portugal's unknown heritage, focusing on the Alentejo as the destination of choice with themed programs and unique experiences based on its gastronomy, history, heritage and landscape.
Each visitor to Spira Lab actively contributes to the preservation of heritage, as part of the revenue goes towards developing programs to enhance the value of the site and obtain patronage/sponsorship for the conservation of this common cultural heritage.
Spira Lab is an invitation to everyone to let themselves be carried away by the cultural, natural and gastronomic heritage of Alentejo.
The entire Spira Lab offer is the responsibility of Spira – heritage revitalization (RNAAT nº 61/2009, RNAVTurismo nº 8593, by Turismo de Portugal).
- Reservations are only valid with confirmation of payment and completion of the registration form . Any reservation is subject to availability and confirmation by Spira Lab. Spira Lab reserves the right to cancel any registration for which payment has not been made at the time of registration.
- If the Client is unable to participate , the amount paid may be credited for use in another program within a maximum period of 1 year or the Client may transfer his/her registration, provided that the new Participant meets all the conditions required for the program. Either case must be validated by Spira Lab. No refunds are accepted .
- The program may be subject to changes due to partner availability. Spira Lab undertakes to inform of these changes as soon as possible. If, due to circumstances attributable to Spira Lab, it is unable to comply with the program, the Customer has the right to cancel the program and receive an immediate refund or to accept an alternative proposed by Spira Lab (with possible price variation).
- The Client consents that his/her information, including personal data, may be transmitted to government authorities and local partners in order to carry out the defined program, including dietary preferences and limitations, health information or others.
- Spira Lab is obliged to provide insurance to all participants. Individual conduct is the responsibility of the Client.
