PROGRAM
In an environment of exchange and learning, this theoretical-practical workshop addresses different aspects of the construction techniques of rammed earth and earth plaster: characteristics and properties of the material; application principles; execution practices. The workshop includes two levels of knowledge: N1_initiation, for new participants; N2_in-depth, for participants who have attended N1 or previous workshops.

TRAINING
Discover the potential of earthen construction, focusing on the taipa technique. This theoretical and practical workshop provides an initial scientific and practical contact with earthen construction, covering applications, architectural details, and raw material characterization.
TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC COORDINATION
Miguel Ferreira Mendes
Architect; Master's Degree in Ecological Architecture; Post-Master in Earth Architecture.
Associated Researcher in the CRAterre-AE&CC-ENSAG-UGA laboratory team.
Independent architect with a bioclimatic and humanist approach to architecture, focused on the enhancement of Local Constructive Cultures. Advocate and promoter of participatory processes.
He has worked with earth since 1995 as a designer, trainer, consultant, and project manager in Portugal and in around 20 countries across 4 continents.
Patrícia Marchante
Architect from the University of Porto, Portugal, and post-master in Earth Architecture and Constructive Cultures from the CRAterre-ENSAG laboratory, France.
She has been active since 2009 in Chile, where she founded Tierractual, a business dedicated to architecture and construction with earth, with a special focus on coatings.
She has participated in training and awareness activities on construction techniques and the heritage of earth-built structures in various countries. Currently, she is researching traditional coatings as part of her ongoing PhD at the University of Cagliari and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
