Where knowledge can be experienced at another pace: a slow, certain pace, due...
And because crafts are, first and foremost, about people – both those who master the craft and those who benefit from its results – it is with people that we must first work, revitalize and disseminate this knowledge, values and traditions.
It is also through Arts & Crafts that we propose a set of experiences born from our relentless pursuit of revitalizing cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. We have created an offering where knowledge can be experienced at a different pace: a slow, steady pace, due to... not just a few hours of workshops, but several days immersed in the making and being of the Alentejo region.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Experiences lasting 2 to 6 days focused on know-how, crafts, and materials originating from and worked in the Alentejo region. Participants are invited to immerse themselves in artisanal techniques, customs, and the Alentejo landscape, accompanied by those who know it best.
In this weekend, long weekend, or full-week program, participants are accompanied daily by an artisan, enjoy training, complementary activities in the region, and time for reconnection. All this while sharing the offer of accommodation at Casa Spira, for those who wish.
IMMERSIONS
ALENTEJO
The "Arts & Crafts" in question are sometimes no longer relevant to the function for which they were designed. Therefore, to be relevant in the present, they must acquire a new, more attractive form, based on working with materials, the artistic and aesthetic dimension of the pieces, the possibility of creating a new design and, consequently, a new functionality, or even simply be a repository of affective memories that one wishes to preserve.
To contribute to this purpose, a mapping of "Arts & Crafts" was carried out in the municipalities of Viana do Alentejo, Portel, Cuba, the parish of Vila de Frades in the municipality of Vidigueira, and the parishes of São Cristóvão and Santiago do Escoural in Montemor-o-Novo.
