ARTS & CRAFTS IMMERSION
BUINHO WORKSHOP
WITH BRUNO MARECO
NEW DATES COMING SOON
ABOUT THE ARTISAN
Born in Moinhos de Vento, in the municipality of Mértola, Bruno Mareco learned the art of buinho from his grandfather. Having always shown a special taste for handicrafts and the know-how of his region, at just 22 years old, Bruno spends his days working in the weaving workshop in Mértola and the rest of his time saving the buinho tradition through demonstrations and training.
SUMMARY
The buinho is the material most commonly used for stuffing the distinctive Alentejo chairs. From the banks of calm streams to our homes, there are many processes to take into account when treating this plant and the wood it is used in. In this 3-day immersion, you will follow and discover the best-kept secrets of this know-how followed by the young Bruno Mareco, who is now giving new life to the buinho tradition.
