WHO WE ARE

They say that everything takes longer here. That everything is calm. That everything is slow. We say that we are on the right side of life. At the right pace of existence. There are 300 days of sunshine a year. The silence here does not bother us.

It was the repeatedly painted walls of the hermitages, chapels and churches of Alentejo that led us to create the first cultural tourism route, 25 years ago – the Rota do Fresco: we wanted everyone to be able to go beyond the doors so repeatedly closed to this heritage and marvel at a monumental scenography of color .

As the Frescos are made exclusively from local raw materials – lime, river sand and natural pigments –, we quickly expanded our curiosity to the other heritages of the region : montado, marble, terroir gastronomy , cultural practices, centuries-old traditions…

This unique whole has proven to be the cause of a very particular “way of being” that continues to be experienced in the Alentejo: leisure, human scale, sustainability, light, tranquility, beauty .

Today, we are preparing for the next 25 years by bringing together under the same brand all these ways of approaching the culture of Alentejo created for such diverse audiences over the years: Spira LAB – a laboratory of heritage experiences open to all .
