SINCE 1998...
The Rota do Fresco ® aims to democratize access to the cultural and natural heritage of the Alentejo region and promote knowledge of it.
To this end, different Routes and Workshops have been created where you can access architectural heritage that is usually closed, witness live ethnological traditions, taste regional cuisine and understand the surrounding landscape. And always sharing the discovery of a mural painting, a "fresco": the unknown treasure of the Alentejo.
The Route is based on a network of local partners – property owners, public entities, businesses, local development associations – with the aim of promoting the sustainable development of the area covered and the preservation of its cultural heritage.
Each visitor to the Fresco Route thus actively contributes to the preservation of this heritage, since part of the revenue goes towards the development of programs to enhance its value and obtain patronage/sponsorship for the conservation of this shared cultural heritage.
