Morning
-
Chapel of St. Peter: A visit to this unique temple, once built beside a significant river. Now no longer used for worship, the chapel holds, behind its main altar, a surprising 16th-century fresco mural that calls for informed eyes to recognize its value and help preserve it.
-
Castle Hillside Rooftop: Lime, river sand, and natural pigments bring the fresco to life, but the Alentejo soil also provides the clay for pottery, jugs, bricks, and tiles. Here, we will understand these ancestral cultural and economic practices, based on the region's endogenous resources.
Lunch
-
Picnic at the Castle: We all had lunch together in the shade of the castle's trees, enjoying typical Alentejo summer food, always accompanied by musical moments.
-
Free Time / Church of Santiago: Free space for socializing and visiting the Church of Santiago, located within the grounds and also decorated with mural paintings.
Afternoon
-
16th-century convent: We bravely enter a space that defies time. With the leisurely pace that the Alentejo region demands, we will interpret its significant collection of mural paintings, understand the vicissitudes of the monument and, from this elevated vantage point, contemplate and decipher the landscape of Montemor.
-
Church of Mercy: Descent to this imposing 16th-century building where music awaits us for a final moment of celebration.
Let's celebrate a heritage that belongs to all of us!
