The Rota do Fresco proposes the discovery of the hidden treasure of the Alentejo - the Mural Fresco Painting - which is preserved (for very specific reasons directly related to the development of this region) in most of the churches, chapels and hermitages of the region. The Rota do Fresco is therefore a unique opportunity to cross these doors, usually closed, and unveil paintings that are 500 years old, preserved in forgotten monuments.

 

The first Cultural Touring Route in our country, created in 1998, the Rota do Fresco brings together 15 municipalities in the Alentejo: Alvito, Cuba, Vidigueira, Viana do Alentejo, Portel, Évora, Montemor-o-Novo, Borba, Vila Viçosa, Alandroal, Serpa, Moura, Castro Verde, Aljustrel and Beja.
